During the past weeks, 3f8h.net has replaced the existing PDF-workflow at the publishing house “Verlag + Druck Linus Wittich” in Foehren, Germany.
Linus Wittich is a family-owned enterprise, and their core competence is publishing local information in collaboration with the community. Linus Wittich’s company history covers more than forty years of business, as they run their operations with well over 900 staff members employed across Germany (as well as Austria) ,located in twelve German federal states, including twelve publishing locations and seven printing plants.
Michael Grundmann, System Administrator at Linus Wittich notes, “The change from the existing product to Enfocus PowerSwitch and the callas pdfToobox Server was definitely the right way to go. Not only do we get more functions at a lower cost, we now have the same possibilities supplied by Asura Enterprise out of the Box. Without major programming knowledge and for selected agencies, we have already been able to make an automated Preflight available that automatically generates and sends reports via e-Mail or FTP. With the help of 3f8h.net, further and more complex workflows will be realized in the near future.
In earlier days and when typesetting ads, every re-setting had to be printed out, so that the correction could be quickly forwarded to and read by the person responsible. In the meantime, we can release all documents directly on-screen, which has been made possible through a combination of pdfToolbox and PowerSwitch. The integration into existing workflows was realized without any major adjustments and within the first six months, we demonstrably cut down on several tons of paper.
At peak times, these two programs enabled us to reliably, and repeatedly process more than ten thousands of jobs per week. We were able to realize flows to all departments, whilst fulfilling the utmost differing demands. We are far from exhausting the many possibilities. That is fascinating.
